To the powers that be of this site:
Would it be possible to have the five most ACTIVE threads on the main page, instead of the five newest? Out of sight, of of mind, and I think the most active threads showing-up on the front page would generate more discussion.
My half a cent.

That's a Dave question.

The View Active Threads link at the bottom is customized in that is shows threads with new posts since YOUR last visit.
How would you define Most Active in a global sense for individuals who aren't logged in and have no viewing history?

Oh, I don't know, Dave, I'm out of my element here.
By most active I meant, number of people respnding in the last...24hours? In other words, the hot threads. What happens is a good thread gets going, someone comes along and starts new threads, which bump the hot treads into... and many folks who drop by the page will not see the thread. I know there are ways to stop this from happening, but I thought the five most active would be better than some of the threads that show on the face page.
My two cents.

Ed, for yourself you can subscribe to those 'hot' threads and receive email updates as they are posted in, but I'm guessing you're meaning to ask how can we bring visitors and newbies directly into these topics to both get them interested in the forum right away and to generate new input for us oldies. Is this correct?

And Dave, do you read every post? How else do you know when you're being paged? /emoticons/wink.gif
