this isn't exactly the right sort of gripe....

but how on earth can i finish my sorry excuse for the sword and sorceress entry if i get stuck with mandatory overtime of 10 hrs?

40 hrs + 10 hrs + 10 hrs commuting + attempting to keep healthy marriage + fencing club does not equal reality, much less a reality where i can that story done! or continue to think straight!

time to get gin so i can sleep tonight [i don't do this often -btw :) ]

Thankfully I've never been in that situation, but it definitely sounds dreadful.

And I thought I juggled too many things. Yep, sounds frustrating alright.

I hope you eventually find the time to complete your story.

Just keep working on it as you can.
If you miss the window, finish it, hold on to it, and send it in next year for S&SXXIV. Try to put together two or three for next year.

And try not to write at the last minute for these things. I'd been working and polishing the story I sent to S&SXXIII since just after S&SXXII closed. I'm sure a lot of others have as well. Try to keep ahead of the curve, at least with serial anthologies.

Me, when I get swamped with O-T when I want to write, I figure it'll balance out, make it easier later when I've got money for cons from all that O-T.

i'm afraid i'm sort of learning the curve [crystal has my only real pub so far]....but having a story for next year might not be so bad....that's a better way to look at it, anyway :)

My son drank those energy drinks a lot, but at certain times he was really tired. Seemed he had trouble staying awake. I mentioned that perhaps the energy drinks would put him on enough of a high that he crashed a lot, and eventually their effect wears off, causing you to crash more than not. He stopped drinking them and a more even energy level returned. He usually can wake up in the mornings without a problem now.

So, don't over indulge. A good cup of coffee might be better for you. Or you can do what my brother did in the Army. On long driving stints, he kept a jar of instant coffee, the freeze dried kind, I believe. Occasionally he would toss a handful in his mouth as he rolled down the road. I've not tried it myself. I like to drink mine. :) Especially since I home roast.

Those expensive energy drinks are mostly hype. They're loaded with caffeine, same as a cheap Dr. Pepper but cost 3x as much. Read the lables then go look up the various ingredients.
