Aaron?s Revenge is a decently written (a bit pedestrian) of the lost prince type. Aaron is taken from his cradle by the badgize [term from Gahan Wilson] and left with unwitting foster parents. At fifteen, he is tested for talent and ?assignment?, probably as a squire to a knight. Instead he is kidnapped again, and hauled off to the badgize place to become an evil wizard and instrument of his evil uncle Brandan?s revenge. But a little rescue (more than once), and ?love is all you need,? comes into play. The ending clearly shows the author?s moral and didactic purpose. It?s worth reading, but will not win any prizes. But, do the good guys really not know what?s gotten into Tomas? Can you say, ?Sequel?? A little more polish and a sequel would not be unwelcome.

The proofreader needs a short course in the use of commas and apostrophes. On page 56, for instance, ?An evil grin spread across Brandan face.? ?Brandan?s? face, maybe? There are also occasional exercises in the perils of spell checkers: ?where? in place of ?were?, or ?laying? in place of ?lying?.

It comes with a map, and the places in the story are actually on it! It?s a little unclear sometimes whether we are in Crato or Mahorg, or whether it matters.

At least the badgize don?t chant, ?Sidra Mah! Sidra Mah!? (Darn it, wrong story again!)

      Badgize?
Why the need for text message wordage in a book review, especially when you make mention of the grammical errors in the book itself.
That's like the pot calling the kettle black.
And if you're spelling bad guys as badgize...why aren't you spelling good guys as goodgize?
And who is Gahan Wilson anyway?

And how does the weird sentence below have any reference to the book you're reviewing?

?Sidra Mah! Sidra Mah!? (Darn it, wrong story again!)

This is David's first review. I'll talk to him about some things. I think he is just trying to be a little funny.

      Hey Mike

I must come across as a mean bastard huh...but in truth I felt bad for the author of the book getting such an odd review.
I even had to look up what a bit 'pedestrian' meant, as it's not an expression we use in Sydney...unless we're cursing dropkicks stepping out in front of our vehicles with no warning.
I couldn't be bothered Googling Gahan Wilson or 'Sidra Mah'...I don't expect to have to do research to understand obscure references in a book review.

If David wishes to re-write his review and remove said oddities I'll happily delete our posts above.

      Cheers: Jaq
