Book Review: Swords of the Horseclans (Horseclans #2), by Robert Adams

Swords of the Horseclans (Horseclans #2)
    By Robert Adams
    Review by Dave Felts
    Rating: (2.5/5)

While I would classify the first volume a being close to heroic fantasy, albeit in a future apocalyptic setting, this second volume in the series, Swords of the Horseclans, is more military fantasy. Book 1 ends with Milo completing his odyssey of leading the Horseclans from the high plains of the middle use to the eastern seaboard, where he establishes them in their new home and forms the Confederation.

Book Review: A Clash of Kings, (A Song of Ice and Fire #2), by George R. R. Martin

A Clash of Kings (A Song if Ice and Fire Book 2)
    By George R. R. Martin
    Review by Dave Felts
    Rating: (4/5)

A Clash of Kings is the second volume in George R. R. Martins series A Song of Ice and Fire, and a follow up to the popular A Game of Thrones.. This review contains some spoilers, as it's necessary to talk about some of the events and characters from the first book. If you haven't read the first book but plan to, DON'T READ THIS REVIEW.

    Member Movie Review: Priest

    Priest (2010), Rated PG-13
    87 minutes
Starring Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Lily Collins, Brad Dourif
    Directed by Scott Charles Stewart
    Reviewed by Jaqhama
    Rating: (2/5)

Priest is set on either another world or the Earth in some dark, apocalyptic future, or an alternate Earth at any rate. Never was quite sure about that. Humans have been at war with a vampire race for decades, centuries maybe. Things weren't going so good for the homo saps until they discovered that some of them have almost super human powers of speed, strength and agility.

Samdra took a deep breath of the salt air trying to chase away the fatigue from her long journey in stasis sleep. Her head was wrapped in a smothering blanket of pain and her stomach turned as if she was still in free-fall. She put on a thin tight-lipped smile that would not fool her husband for a second. ...

    Blood Debt
    By Fadzlishah Johanabas

    There was blood everywhere.

Two men lay on the forest floor near the village, limbs twitching in a final fight for their lives. Their abdomens had been similarly ripped open, wet entrails slipping out, turning dusky fast in the cold night air. Blood dripped from nearby leaves, brush and tree-trunks, and flowed thickly from where they lay, forming rivulets between saplings and rotting leaves. ...

Aki staggered as one of the water buckets on her shoulder bar jerked toward the ground. High-pitched laughter assaulted her ears.

"Leave me be." She glared at the little gods who grinned from within her bucket. "If I don't get the water to the smithy before Starn's done working the sword, I'll feel his strap for days."

The little gods frowned and shook their heads, but at least they leapt down. In midair, they transformed into water and sank into the dirt path, leaving a muddy patch to snare the next wagon to come through. ...

Ted thought the idea of freezing yourself against the possibility of being revived in some future date was, at best, a romp, at worst, a shameless waste of resources and perhaps the most arrogant action anyone could take. Indeed, the thought that some civilization yet to flourish might find themselves compelled to bring back people from his own time, evoked in him only a dismissive sneer. ...

Umm, Dead Six isn't a Deathlands book, Dave.

It's a military action/adventure novel, quite a popular one, judging by the Amazon reviews.
    I really enjoyed it.
