Thread: Looking to team up...

    Default Looking to team up...

I'm wanting to submit a novella with another writer (preferably a pro or semi-pro with some writing credits) for the Simian Gemini novella series http://www.simianpublishing.com/guidelines.htm.
I'd prefer your novella to be ready to submit immediately.

    Here are the two themes:

    "Azieran: The Colossus of Yorg"

This is a river travel adventure that culminates in the opening of an otherworldly vault. So, maybe a river travel theme, or analien technology or relicfrom the stars on a fantasy world type of theme. The two main characters are bards, so maybe a bardic theme could work.

I submitted this to Scrybe Press on 7/11/06, queried on 2/26/07 and received no response. I figure if they don't have time to answer a query, they don't have time to read my submission.

"Azieran: The Worm and the Wyrm"

This is a tale about a good man that is seduced into becoming a dracul (like a vampire, but more living than dead). So, the theme could be about heroes being led into temptation, or a theme of taking the wrong road and finding redemption.

Anyway, my one sentence decriptions of these novellas obviously don't sound very impressive, but I think they're both publishable and I have a track record to back them. Interested parties may email me: azieran@gmail.com

    Chris:

I'd love to - but I don't meet either qualification (credits or immediate submitability).

If I did - I'd jump on the 'Azieran: The Worm and the Wyrm' theme.

P.S. Good luck with this, though!

That would very cool, but I have no writing credits, and the only tale I could expand into a novella quickly is an abduction mystery, with some underground work of my heroine and a rescue of/by my hero, in a fantasy setting.

Sadly, I would have to pass.

Only thing I have even close to novella length doesn't fit those themes, unfortunately.

Speaking of which, what would be the minimum word count for a novella?

Normally, a novella is considered 17,500-39,999 words, but their guidelines say between 20-45k, if I recall.

Pretty cool idea to solicite another novella to get published there... I refrained from thinking of sending anything to them because I didn't want my work wrapped up with someone I didn't know...

Hmm... wonder which Freehold novella I could finish now...

    Armand,

If you have anything that could be tied to one of the themes mentioned above, I'd love to submit with you.
