The only requirements are that you be an active SFReader forum member and that you post the webring navbar HTML on your websites.

    <u>Come join the likes of:</u>
Janrae Frank's Dark Fantasy Site for her world of Daverana

    and
SFReader itself (on the front page, right hand sidebar)

Oh, and naughty Nicholas Ozment's reviews, commentary, and random thoughts -- but he won't put the navbar on his site, so I'm thinking of kicking him out! Seriously, if anyone can help Nick paste HTML into Livejournal, we'd both be grateful.

    Howard, just a quick question:

    - With SFReader being the name-giving forum, would it be okay to add other forums to the webring?

Well, being another forum in and of itself does not pose a problem. The purpose of the ring is to promote - not only SFReader - but those of its members who are active in the SFReader forum and have websites of their own.

By active, I mean, quite honestly, I'm not going to accept registrations from people I either don't know (recognize) or who have just a handful of posts here. This ring is to be mutually beneficial to all its members, linking those of us who enjoy spending lots of time and words at SFReader.

I realize you have 3 sites and I would be more than happy to include all 3 in The SFReader Ring. It is not a problem that one of them may contain a forum. All I would ask is that you identify them in their ring names and descriptions in a manner that is best descriptive for your purposes but not necessarily overly advertorial.

Linking our sites together and identifying ourselves with SFReader - with a core group of SFReader professionals (or not ) - is supposed to bring all of us more website hits, more exposure, and, hopefully, more writing-related benefits.

    Thank you for asking, though.

Right now, I'm only certain I want to add the forum 'Mystical Adventures', and my author's website.

You're welcome, Jason. Now if the admin of the machine my website is on will just fix the editor, i'll get the ring code on the page!

Thanks! I took Jason's and David's advice and just pasted the HTML code into a livejournal post.

I'm assuming (hoping) that the end resultis the same: a personclicks Next Site onthe Webring Navigation bar and finds him/herself looking at my livejournal page. I suppose the only long-term disadvantage will be months down the road, when I have amassed dozens more posts _after_ the Webring post, so that a new visitor will be coming onto my pagefar below the most recent material.

Or the flip down side being that a new visitor to your site coming via some other route will never even know you're part of The SFReader Ring because there is no webring navbar to indicate it is so! In other words, I'm hoping you've got this little bug resolved before amassing dozens more posts!

    Added flashing swords.

Is there a way to get the code for a site that's already in the ring?

yes, there is a 'Raw Ring Code' option, but I have to do some work to it before I can give it to someone.

Rob - anything getting better? I've had a new site join the ring since your post, so I know things should be working correctly. Let me know if you need anything specific from me.

Just signed up. Now I join Nick in attempting to get LiveJournal to accept it - did anyone ever figure that one out? I will, as a stopgap measure, paste the code into an LJ post tomorrow while I call in the cavalry. I'll post what my experts tell me as soon as I get them to reply (a period normally measured in tree rings and moons...).

I just signed up, and even figured out how to post the Navigation bar on my site. I hope my desription is alright. If not, please let me know (I go by RHFay here on the forum, but my usual by-line is Richard H. Fay).

    Thanks!

Oh, I almost forgot to beg - please, please, please add my site. Pretty please, with sugar on it. (I've been at the computer too long today; I'm getting punchy.)

I edited it slightly so Azure Lion Productions would show up in the list as my site name. The WebRingo application is a bit misleading in that respect; it seems to show the short site description from the application as the site name in the list.

Anyway, the banner ison my site in two places (front page and links), and it seems to work okay.

Agreed, RH. I keep forgetting to advised new members to edit their descriptions and names once their in and see what Webringo does. It looks good on your site - right at home!
