I'm a little tired of all the 'updated' icons from the past being made into nothing like what they were. Every family must now be dysfunctional (see, movie Lost in Space - or better yet, don't!), the heroes must have angst, and the villains, well they're just like the heroes except their daddy didn't love them enough.
Gimme a menacing Ming, even with his 'Yellow Menace' overtones, any day.

Just judging from the previews this thing has production values to rival the Power Rangers. Looks like complete dross.
Having watched several episodes, I cannot belive that it was possible to create a boooorrrrriing version of Flash Gordon.
It has none of the charm of the old serial episodes nor any of the camp goodness of the 80's movie. It just sucks! It sucks with the suck of a thousand red hot sucks. It defies physics by being able to both suck and blow at the same time.
The only thing that will keep the show on the air is that fact that it isplaced between Doctor Who and Stargate Atlantis. Maybe.
You say God's spark has kindled my eye,
As the sun-rise reddens the east;
Into your beards I roar the lie-
'Tis the gleam of the stalking beast.
