Thread: Lightning Source and Amazon

1. Default Lightning Source and Amazon

Hey, all -

Sorry to be away so long again! Too much stuff going on...

Anyway, for those who have been following or are interested in the situation with Amazon reputedly not putting the 'buy' button in their catalog for titles printed by lightning source, I have an answer: at least for the real little guys, Amazon does still sell titles printed by Lightning Source.

I approved the final print version of In Her Name on 28 May, and it was available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble on 7 June. I don't think everything's caught up quite yet, as there's no description on B&N, and Amazon isn't reflecting any discount (not that I expect they'll do a big one, but at least 10%). But at least Amazon matched up the print and Kindle versions.

So, Amazon may be pounding on the bigger author printing houses, but so far the little guys are still slipping under the radar!

Cheers,
Mike

Not sure what this is all about. I don't think LSI was ever being 'un-buttoned' by amazon.

And they ARE the big guys in POD printing.

This was a long time back and Amazon got beaten into the ground very quickly. But LSI was never 'unbuttoned' because they were already an amazon partner and it wasn't an issue with them.

New content added on a regular basis.

Yep, IR still shows 'In Stock' at Amazon with the buy button intact. My book was never discounted either, though, which surprised my publisher because they had the others. But, they were bigger books too.

It did take B&N a while longer to get my book up (about 3-4 weeks after Amazon did) and Boarders, well, it finally went up there almost half a year later. But I think my publisher's titles were held up for some reason, because more recent books went on at the same time. Like they did us in a batch or something. Go figure.

it all has to do with when the store in question updates their books in print catalog. Some of them update fairly often and some only update once in a while.
