The main pieces of my bracer are put together, but it's still in three pieces. It looks so plain at the moment. I suppose I'll put off finishing it until I have one of those really ambitious days when I feel like doing decorative stitching.

Darn Netflix. It seems like every time we think of a movie we want to watch, they don't have it.
While prowling Youtube looking for music videos, I came across some cool clips from Spawn: The Animated Series. My daughter happened in to see what I was watching.
"Who is that?"
"Spawn."
"Is he a bad guy?"
"No, he's what you call an anti-hero."
"So he's good and bad?"
"Yes."
She gives a sage nod of her head. "He sure kills a lot of people." Then she begged to let me watch the show.
There is no way the series is appropriate for a nine year old. Not even my nine year old. The live action movie, however, isn't so bad. Unfortunately it was yet one more on our long list of movies that Netflix doesn't have.
I soothed her disappointment by giving her the remote and letting her pick whatever she wanted, but I have no doubt she'll be hounding me to find Spawn for her next time I go to town.
Despite not having a lot of the movies we know and go looking for, I do find a lot of good stuff.
Yesterday I watched "War of the Arrows". I highly recommend it, if you don't mind reading subtitles.
My inspiration of the day: the Spawn AMV that set the whole conversation in motion.

Rock on! Avengers opens this weekend. Hopefully we can get into town and see it on Sunday.
The boys are also looking forward to The Raven, but I need to check out some reviews and find out if my daughter can go to that one or not. I'm guessing not. There's grim, and then there's Poe grim.
There looks to be a decent line of movies we want to see this year. Of course the Hobbit is still a ways off, but it's on the must see list.
On a separate note, I finally found Spawn so my daughter could watch it. Now she wants to be Spawn for Halloween. Hopefully she'll be distracted by a new hero with a less complicated costume before I actually have to sew anything. With my luck she'll want to be Judge Dredd.

This evening the kids and I were talking about what kind of character I would be in a story.
My eldest said, "Are you kidding? Everyone knows you'd be a super villain."
Awww, my cob-webbed heart is brimming over with pride. The little wickedlings are kissing up because they know tomorrow is Mother's Day.

Prolonged illness?
Did you get bitten by one of your bugs?
I've got my leg in plaster after major ankle surgery. So I get the sitting around staring out the window thing.
The irony of an MMA instructional dvd I ordered arriving this week has not been lost on me. I will not be able to perform any of the techniques for a couple of months at least.
I hope you get well soon.

War of the Arrows was excellent. Good story and characters and the actions scenes were really well done. You really got a sense of how deadly an arrow can be in the hands of a well-trained archer. First time I ever heard of the "half pounder." At first I wondered if it was a McDonald's product placement. The sound and color on BluRay were also very good, especially in the outdoor scenes. Three and a half stars!

Hi Jaq
Ha. No, my bugs didn't bite me. I don't keep anything medically significant anyway. Unless you count the occasional black widow. My whole family had strep throat, and lucky me got it twice when the burst of antibiotics couldn't knock it out.
How long are you going to be stuck in the cast?
Hope you are up and around soon.
Yeah, I really enjoyed it.
I liked Red Cliff too, even though it was really long. The way they dealt with their arrow shortage was amusing and ingenious.
Warlords wasn't bad, but I was really starting to hate Jet Li's character by the end. Tragic endings are a lot easier to stomach when the "hero" isn't doing villainous things for the greater good.

Cast maybe a couple more weeks.
Then a half cast and crutches.
Then a walking boot and physio.
Then walking stick and physio.
Then hopefully a full recovery.
3 months seems to be the norm.
Google Peroneal tendon subluxation repair surgery. You'll see some nice pics of the inside of your ankle. Yummy.
Strep throat...I feel for you, nothing worse than a really sore throat.
Cepacol antibacterial/local anansthetic tablets will stop the pain and aid recovery. Can be used with penicilian and keflex
Ibuprofen and codeine tablets also good.
