Cold.
I woke up to snow this morning. Clinging to the windows. Lying in drifts and blankets over everything. Gorgeous.
It was the perfect time of morning too, right before the sun crept over the horizon. Not light out, and not dark.
I love snow, can't resist it. So that's my inspiration for the day.

Ow.

One of the horses has thrush. So every morning I have to pick her feet and soak the inside with iodine. Of course this isn't going over so well with the horse, and I don't blame her.
Yesterday she jerked her foot out of my hands and wrenched my back. This morning I had an asthma attack. I thought I could just try and breath through it, and hurried with her last foot. Hurrying made me careless and I got myself with the hoof pick. At least I didn't break skin, but I did give myself a heck of a welt and scrape.
Now the horse and I are both hobbling around.

I think my oldest may be a little bored in school.
He recently had to write a persuasive essay for English class. His topic of choice? Cannibalism.
When I told my husband about it, I think I could actually hear him shaking his head over the phone, 'he is totally your son.'.
When I asked my son how the teacher responded to his topic pick, he said, 'she told me it had to be a 'serious' essay'.
Obviously this was a ploy by the teacher to dissuade him from using the topic. Though I would've thought she knew my son long enough to realize it was going to backfire completely.
So he did what she said. He wrote a serious persuasive essay for cannibalism. After he handed in the first draft she quickly changed her mind about 'keeping it serious'. But she did allow him to write it, with the new stipulation he had to make sure everyone knew he was kidding.

Yesterday was the big day. They drew cards to see who had to go first, since the essay had to be read aloud to the whole class.
The girl who drew the card to go first was too nervous, so she traded cards with my son.
From what I was told, after he finished, some of the students asked for copies of the tape (they were recording the speeches for district assessment. I am all ready dreading the call I am likely to get for that one. ) One of the kids even told him he had the teacher laughing, all though she tried really hard not to. The entire rest of the class asked to postpone reading their speeches until Monday, because they said there was no way they could follow that.

He recounted the event with great pride on the way home.
'You didn't tell them I gave you the Aunt Martha's casserole line, did you?'
'No, Mom. I had so many good Aunt Martha lines I had to cut that one out.'

Today's inspiration- My son, because he never does anything the way anyone else would do it.

First day of a new year.
Made it through another one.

And so it's that time again, to re-evaluate goals and plans for the next twelve months. Production will be top priority. Revamping my favorite cartoon series, and getting new stories out into the world.

All ready have a binder and notebook full of characters and story ideas. However I have noticed my preference for anti-heroes that often serve dual roles of villain and hero. There is room for more do-gooder, righteous characters, but I think this year I need to work on bad guys who really are.

I seem to be suffering from a deep apathy toward my writing lately.
There were two deadlines in December that I wanted to meet. One story was started and needed to be finished, the other just needed a final polish. I didn't touch either of them, and the deadline passed.
At this moment I don't have a single story out. None. Nada.
This month I picked five stories that could be sent. They needed anything from minor revision to a final polish. Haven't touched any of them.

I'm not sure how to break this streak.

I mostly listen to hard rock. Some of theCD's I've been listening torecently (besides Tesla)include Seether, Bon Jovi,Disturbed, Ozzy, Hinder, Eddie Vedder, and Linkin Park.
