Too bad they aren't a paying market. I could be rich in no time.

Aurelio Rico Lopez III aka "Thirdy" has had fictionfeatured in COLD FLESH (Hellbound Books), THE BLACKEST DEATHI, II, and III (Black Death Books), SPORTY SPEC: GAMES OF THE FANTASTIC (Raven Electrick Ink), STAR-SPANGLED ZOMBIE (Maniac Press), RAW MEAT (Sideshow Press), SHADOW BOX (Brimstone Press), TRIP THE LIGHT HORRIFIC (RAGE machine Books), DEAD MEN (AND WOMEN) WALKING (Bards and Sages), and THE BOOK OF SHADOWS VOL. I (Brimstone Press). His poems have appeared in Mythic Delirium, Star*Line, Dark Animus, Goblin Fruit, Scifaikuest, Electric Velocipede, Sybil's Garage, The Horror Express, Down In the Cellar, and elsewhere.

    Well, not intentionally.

Actually, I write a lot of wretched poetry. The real question is whether I recognize that it's bad poetry before I inflict it on an unsuspecting public.

The very worst poem I ever wrote is no longer extant. I intended it to be atmospheric horror, but failed. It came out as ridiculous and lurid melodrama instead. I still remember the opening, but, mercifully, the subsequent lines killed off the neurons that were storing the memories.

I submitted some bad poetry to an anthology one time that was labled as bad poetry. They rejected it. Hum. I know it wasn't good! So it must have been really, really bad.

Actually, it's probably like American Idol. The ones that make it to the initial try outs with the judges are either good or very bad, because the medicore one's aren't entertaining enough. Which means my poetry probably wasn't bad enough.

Yeah, that's it. I'm sure of it.

Oh Griot, that reply was nearly poetry itself!

Of course I write bad poetry, is there any other kind? I know what I like, and occasionally manage to write some other people like, or an editor likes, but from someone's POV every poem ever written is in some way bad.

Since by the most common definition of good or at least technically competent is almost universally in line with 'boring me to tears' I write terrible poetry.

Or not the flavor of bad that they were looking for.
