Thread: The Kindle

    Default The Kindle

    Yeah yeah yeah, I know, I know. Various eBook readers have come and gone over the last 3 decades, but this one is a bit different, maybe.

    People seem to absolutely love it, and the battery power can last awhile (which is a 'known issue' with the older stuff), and with the adjustable font and everything else, as well as a shallow learning curve, it may be worth watching the Kindle to see what happens with it.

    More and more people are getting wired up, and tech is becoming more and more a mainstay of people's lives.

    So, if you do eBooks, you might want to keep an eye on this one, and see if it last the year, which is a good indication of whether or not it's got staying power.

    ELSE Happy.obj -- 2
    IF Women.obj == TRUE
    Then Happy.obj ++10
    ELSE Happy.obj -- 2
    fcall getwoman.lib
    IF firearm.obj == TRUE
    Then Happy.obj ++ 2
    ELSE Happy.obj --1
    END CODE

    it's pretty easy to create Kindle versions, but what I don't like is what they do to images... so I wind up having to remove all the images from a book before I Kindlize it.

    New content added on a regular basis.

    That's interesting.
    I'm sure if you could reformat them instead, you would. So you're saying that there is something other than the format degrading the images?

    I consider Kindle not quite a scam, but certainly an evil monopoly perpetration. They are selling people (allegedly) something for almost double the natural cost just so it can hook up wireless to them...giving them a MONOPOLY on content.

    This is a feature that does little to benefit the reader, who could certainly load up the many books a device like than could potentiall hold at home, but is obvlously hugely beneficial to anybody who can get people to buy it and be hooked on their pole.

    If it DOES become the iPod of reading, we're in trouble because one thing monopoles like that do is supress innovation. If iPods were wifi linked to RIAA as their source of music, people would worry. This thing is a one-way ticket to AMAZON.COM, which is only less evil than Microsoft because they haven't gotten there yet.

    It's bad mojo from the get go.
