Default Black Gate reviews Rage of the Behemoth!

Theodore Beale's 'Conan with a soul' review of Rage of the Behemoth went up at Black Gate today!

An 8/10 score and some specific name and story references are all good things!

Whoa, very nice review. I'm particularly tickled to have written 'the best story about a heroic crab warrior I have ever encountered' .

...Bruce Durham?s ?Yaggoth-Voor: A Tale of Mortlock? reads rather like the recently unearthed love child of RE Howard and HP Lovecraft.

I'm not sure it that's a good thing or a shot...

Sounded mostly positive. I'm going to have to check this one out. I'd planned to anyway, I know you guys won't disappoint me. Sean, sounds like you've definitely raised the bar on heroic crab warrior stories--you must have put a new spin on an old trope; I'm intrigued.

Good thing, Bruce buddy! In the setting in which it's written, a marvelous thing, I'd say. If this had been an anthology of historical Western romances and he had described your tale as such, that's not so good; but as this is an anthology of heroic fiction, being seen as the lovechild of Lovecraft and Howard can't get much better. Think of the connotations...how much does it change if he had said 'of E.R. Eddison and Lin Carter'? Or 'Douglas Adams and John Cleese'?
