Awesome... but nipple on the cover? Not a volume I could read on my lunch hour at work. Is there going to be a 'G' Rated version for public consumption?

Love the artwork though! Absolutely amazing covers on all the RBE books.

Ah! But if you look close, there isn't actually any nipple.

I love the art, too, but it's one of the reasons I'm revealing it so far in advance. If it generates too negative of an outcry or some such, I'm prepared to work with Johnney to address it.

And no, can't swing the multiple covers thing next year. That really hurt this year's budget.

I dig the cover, dig the nudity. Rock on!

P.S. Jordan, you could make a book cover pretty easily if so inclined if a 'g' rated version doesn't come out.

Cool cover Jason! I love it, it's very active, and rich with gold and earthy colors. Is it just my imagination-- because the longer I look, the more I think I do see a nipple. Maybe it's just casting a shadow? (uh, maybe I should stop looking!) In any case, all the other motion in the cover distracts from any lewd thoughts. But it sure makes me want to read the story where she appears!

Just put your hand over that bit, Jordan.

Really awesome cover -- I hope you get subs to cover all the sports depicted! Maybe for stuff like this you should commission a few specific pieces? Not too late I'm sure.

It's cool and fun to look at, but will it sell in Poughkeepsie and Springfield and Des Moines?

Not very subtle, and having Johnney pen in a strand of hair that falls across the anatomy might not offend the artistic vision. Or it might.

If passing gas is too much for an RBE story, then bare breasts might be too much for a cover. Yes, yes -- apples and oranges.

I guess my biggest gripe is that it's titillating (yeah, yeah) but might seem to 'sell' something that's not between the covers (yeah, yeah.)

Seems like every phrase I write is ripe with innuendo. And you know what they say about innuendo.

While everyone's nudity concerns are justified, I do find it a sad commentary on our society that we can splash blood, violence and weapons all over a book cover and everyone is on high alert because of a nipple.

But, that's been said before about movies, t.v., etc. Show someone getting shot but don't you dare show a bare breast!

    Silly, really (IMHO)

it's a bunch of guys on the cover.
Guys walk around without shirts on all the time.

I don't understand the nudity concerns?

TW brings valid points - again why I release this so early. Normally I would have kept the cover till subs were closed. However, one point I must address, though it's mostly specific to us - 'passing gas' in and of itself is not too much for RBE. Slapstick is, and after burps and other aspects I felt that it just gave the story too much of that slant, a slant I don't look for in my reading or my publishing.

Perhaps some of our European compadres will offer opinions? As Paul says, Americans don't blink at violence but go into apoplectic spasms at nudity. The Old World, on the other hand, views things just the opposite. I'm in the camp that appreciates beauty and to me there is nothing more beautiful than the feminine figure - the creme de la cremes of God's many and wondrous creations!

That said, and as I said, I have a simple adjustment akin to TW's suggestion to address the 'issue' if necessary.

Oh, and Bill, I did consider that, but haven't found the desire to do so...at this time. If I'm just not finding the stories I want, I might pursue that, but right now I'm comfortable as is. Just like I offered writers a smorgasbord of choices to write, I gave Johnney marching orders almost equally liberal. The way Johnney and I work together sometimes is uncanny, and I think he delivered a cover that is exciting, provocative, and representative of all the book can be. I certainly encourage submitters to check it out and even tailor their submissions - I can tell you right now that such submissions will be received favorably.

Another outstanding Perkins cover, and the nudity doesn't bother me a bit.

Mr. Perkins delivers again, and in spades. That's a gorgeous cover there, Jason! Makes me wish I had a story to send in this time.

Jared - get writing! As of right now, unless there is an avalanche of subs coming month's end, I'll be extending the submission period. Seems either this was a bit more difficult theme, or not too many folks are aware of this antho.

If the submission period is extended, it will be extended to January 31st, 2010, with reading to be done throughout February.

I am a johnny come lately in that I only became aware of the antho-3 weeks ago-my bad for not checking the RBE sitebetter saw Herocoligies-High expectations for that!

Anyway I had to think about it for a good week before starting my tale. I do have a central protaganist but will be filling in all aspects of the crowd around him and the games.

Will probably be a last minute submission though.

I think it's a more challenging theme, at least for me, but that's not a bad thing. It just means I need to give myself a kick and come up with something. I'll see if I can get something ready to send your way.
