Default Burn Me Deadly by Alex Bledsoe

I just got an ARC for Alex Bledsoe's BURN ME DEADLY a good week before it actually hits stores and I'll be doing a full review on my blog soon and I'll definetly update here as well.

Bledsoe's noir-fantasy novel is the second with a character named Eddie LaCrosse a sword jockey, what would be termed in our world a private investigator. But this is not urban fantasy its a rollicking heroic-action packed romp.

Well I'm sure it will be judging off the first book THE SWORD-EDGED BLONDE.

Bledsoe mixes the gritty detective novel with a fantasy renaissance world where people get dirty and broken. Its light on magicor at the least when magic is present there is a cost-not unlike GRRM or Abercrombie and for me thats an extreme plus. I amlooking forward to diving into this new novel very soon.

Just finished Burn Me Deadly and I will do a more thorough review at my blog but I do recomend it for anyone that likes both fantasy and a hard-boiled detective-type noir. The blending of genres is what attracted me to the series in the first place. I think I liked it even more than The Sword-Edged Blonde and that one was pretty good too.

I think a lot of the detective mannerisms will amuse people that have read Chandler and Hammet, while still taking them on from a neo-renaissance world. I got a kick out of a listing of great dragons that a dragon worshipping cult revered.

Now I am not saying its genre defining fantasy but an incredibly enjoyable heroic read with some great characters. I had a hard time putting it down.
