Thread: Roar of the Crowd possibilities

OK been brainstorming and I am not gonna worry about my Aztec/Madoc gladitorial ballgame story. I am having way too much fun fleshing it out more and can't bring myself to keep it down to 15K.

IF RBE wants a whole novel/chapbook someday then awesome, but I'm gonna put that on the back burner at least the rest of the week because I did come up with something else-where there is no possible way I can tell the story without the crowd.

I'm not using a sport at all. Constantinople 1204

Now I just have to add/dream up a little something fantastical to go with it. And get it subbed in a week.

And of course you would have to want it Jason, I'm not trying to presume.

I may try to put something shorter (but above 5K words) together right quick.
Well David, I usually only allow a 500 word excess that I still try to edit down during editing. BUT...as subs are very low for this, and simple experience tells me that having a 100% acceptance rate is pretty nigh impossible, I just might be amenable to the higher count.

I'd suggest still trying to cut it down though...or writing that Constantinople tale right quick

I am working towards publishing novellas, so we can keep each other in mind.

By the way, Paul, since you were the originator of this thread, does that mean I can expect a story from you?

I'm editing my story. I'm 2000 words short and I'm not sure I fit the guidelines. The historical reference has got me.

I have got to get this story finished! For discipline's sake if nothing else.

Milton: 2k short!? Means you're only at 3k? tsk tsk. Though that does give you 2k to fit in something of historical bent

Lyn: You better, you better, you bet!

It's coming. Down to a final edit. Tentative title: "Carcass and Mallet."

Well, the story takes place in 15th century Modagishu, a major Swahili city at the time. I'm just not sure about the crowd scenario. I'll PM you.

Sorry, no - won't make it. I did try a hidden little sport but couldn't make it martial or crowd centric enough. (and, other deadlines have approached.)

    Good luck to all!
