Thread: Stephen King loves Jack Reacher

Default Stephen King loves Jack Reacher

I'm tearing through Under The Dome right now and loving it.

I don't know how many of you spec fic fans are cross over readers to mystery/suspense but King must love Lee Child's Jack Reacher because the character serves as a minor plot pivotal off-stage actor in the book.

Not unlike how Rowlings books did in #5 of the Dark Tower series.

Since I liked Child's writing and Reacher a bit I just felt like spreading the fun.

Under The Dome is one of King's best in a few years, IMO.

It's a little The Stand meets Needful Things but fresh as well. Lot of fun.

Thank all that is holy. I've been quite unimpressed with much of King's work over the last 10 years (but hey, it's still King, who on his worst day offers better than most of what's in the book stores), so I'm glad to hear Under the Dome is a solid book.

I'd had high hopes for Cell, and it was an okay novel, but it didn't live up to King's former standards.

Ty, I felt the same way about Cell, it just didn't pop for me.

Under The Dome is a return to the King of the 70's & 80's. While characterization is as important in this book as any of 'em it is a plot driven book with rapid pacing (a miracle, the pacing, at over 1000 pages and writers of BFF's could learn something here) and all STORY.

If you didn't know better you'd think he'd suddenly started drinking or doing drugs all over again.

At his age, its no longer drugs, its medication.
