Thread: I'd like to be/ under the sea/ in an octopus's garden/ with you

  1. Default I'd like to be/ under the sea/ in an octopus's garden/ with you

Um, these aren't suggestions per se, just a couple changes I've noticed and had to adapt to in going from the old forum to the new.

First, Ropespor used to be my sign-in name, but my screen name was Nicholas. Apparently in this new system those cannot be distinguished: my sign-in name (Ropespor) has become my de facto screen name. That's no big deal, I guess... Jason goes around here as von darkmoor; Mike is erazmus. It just wasn't my intent, but all right. Now I'm Ropespor... which some future biographer will find very interesting and noteworthy because--well, you'll have to read the future biography.

Second, the old posts gave you a toolbar for options like italics and bold face. I see no such toolbar on these new posts. (Do you have to use html code now?)

Third, the selection of emoticons is, well, povertious. There, I made up a new word for it. We've lost more emoticons than real estate investors lost liquidity last year. and they don't even move or nothin'.

Nick, click quote to quote this response and look at the window you're editing in. you should see all the standard rich text icons across the top of the edit Window. A cap. B for Bold, slanted I for italics and so on.

if you don't see that, check your account settings

If they are there, just hight light the text and click on the icon to apply them.

Thanks crystalwizard. Per your advice, I checked my account settings and had to change the setting from "basic editor" to "standard editor."

Ask Dave to change your name for you, he took care of mine.

    Hi Dave,

Yes, could you? Just from Ropespor to Nicholas. Ropespor would remain my sign-in name, right?

Nick, it's not possible on this forum software to give you one sign in name, and a different name for people to see on your posts.

We can change your name to Nicholas, but that would be what you'd have to sign in with, as well as what people would see.

    Is that what you want?

Maybe I should set up a poll, eh? Ask if others on the board would prefer my return as Nicholas, or whether they like Ropespor better...

The hesitation on my part is because, after signing in as Ropespor for the past three years, I know if I had to start signing in as Nicholas I'd always be forgetting and typing in Ropespor and getting an invalid username message and then going "Oh yeah!" and having to re-sign with the right name etc.

Nick, you might log in that one once, but I'm pretty you'd get the hang of the change pretty quick.

A poll eh Sure Go for it, let's see what the community has to say.

Me personally, I really don't think you look like Ropespor

    What, exactly, is 'Ropespoor'?

Anyway, leave your user name as Ropespoor and change your title to Nicholas...

You are obviously NOT reading Smoke the Dragon in serial form on the Abandoned Towers website, or you'd know the answer to that question, Jason.

And you, my dear, did not notice my intentional misspelling of 'Ropespor,' else you'd have noticed the feeble attempt at humor

How am I supposed to know that a typo is on purpose?
