Default Amazon vs. Macmillan spat over the weekend

I was surprised when my Amazon wishlist suddenly listed the new edition of Moorcock's Hawkmoon: The Jewel in the Skull as "unavailable" this weekend. It just came out this month.

Amazon and Macmillan are having a spat over e-pricing. So, Amazon pulled all Macmillan titles, e-books and print.

Now, I notice all the TOR books (owned by Macmillan) on my Amazon wishlist are unavailable for ordering right now.

MacMillian is asking a lot for an electronic book.
There's no paper involved and their publishing cost is way down.

If you go the Book Depository website in the UK you can order actual paper books for about the same price.
And the BD don't charge any postage fees overseas.
BD is much cheaper for international readers to buy books from than Amazon to begin with.

Good news for indie authors howevere...if the major publishers follow Mac's lead then more readers will begin buying indie e-books.
All we need then is an Amazon review system where indie e-books are allocated points for writing quality.
It's a sad fact that a lot of indie e-books and stories are shocking in terms of typos and structure etc.

Funny, this article said Amazon was restocking but I'm still not seeing any TOR listings available...
