Thread: Do you have to sell short stories first in order to sell a novel?

And then there are the obvious cases where a writer who no one had ever heard of writes a novel, gets an agent to take it on and becomes the object of a bidding war between publishers. Terry Goodkind is one notable example.

I'm focusing on writing short stories because I enjoy writing them. Currently, experimenting with releasing a series of .99 cent kindle short stories then adding them together for a hardcover book. You will be able to buy each story individually or buy the complete work.

*Plus, for the moment my budget is tight. Paying for the editing on a short story is within my budget where editing on a novel is not.
