Publicists and agents

Hi everyone. I was thinking about getting a publicist/agent to promote my book. does anyone have any advice on getting a publicists/agent? and where would be a good place to start looking for one? as everyone already knows, it's tough promoting your work out there. for those that have worked with a publicist/agent, has it increased your sales significantly?

Which one do you want, a publicist or an agent? And what do you want this person to do? Is the book published, self-published, or not published at all?

thanks for your reply. I guess I'm aiming for a publicist. I'd like them to help me promote/market books. one is published and one is self published.

In general, I'm not sure a publicist can do a writer much good at this stage, and will cost money. The best publicity a writer can have is a dozen books available and a website to advertize them on. They both build name recognition. Getting stories into magazines helps as well, and pays. Money in is always a good thing.

In short, keep writing.
