    Default Hi everyone :)

I'm an avid fantasy fan and my favourites are Tolkien (especially the Silmarillion) , Ian Irvine who creates some great characters, Terry Goodkind (I know people blow hot and cold about his work but I really enjoyed all his books. Fantastic style and characters), David Gemmel (Legend is well ... legend), Moorcoch (Elric series was my favourite), and Brent Weeks (Brilliant characters). I have many more favourites, just can't decide. Abercromby .. not yet sure, but the writing is good.

Welcome aboard, David! Nice listing of favorites. I loved Books 1,2,and 4 of Goodkind's The Sword of Truth, but after that the quality of his stories plummeted and I couldn't stand to read through Naked Empire. I skipped over the four chapters of Richard's speech and still had no problem understanding the remainder. Naturally I stopped reading the series after that, but his work retains a fond place in my heart. The tricks Richard would use to defeat the villains in the early books were fantastic.

Anyways, hope that you enjoy your time here!

Welcome David! I certainly would echo your endorsement of Brent Weeks & I thoroughly enjoy Jo Abercrombie. Ditto the Silmarillion, which absolutely blew me away when I first read it - not a huge fan of Gemmel or Terry Goodkind, but then it's different courses for different horses, as they say...

Why am I kitchen help? I think I am more of a Grand Hall butler or somthing like that. Always wanted to be a butler ... and a grand hall. Marvelous.
