Default Something weird in the woods...

The strange discovery that Linda and I made last Sunday while riding through a southern pine forest seemed to make such a good story that I'm linking our ride report here for you guys to read.

Note the fact that the ocean is a long way from Penrose Forest and there are only a few small streams trickling about.

That is bizarre! Great photos, Jaq. So, actually, Noah's ark wasn't that big after all and it ended up in Penrose Forest.

    Apparently so.

    Still looking for the unicorns.

Wow. That's a tad on the unusual side, all right. How old do you reckon the boat was?

One guy I work with reckons it's a yacht, note the length of the keel. Trawlers and tug boats don't have them like that.
We think the boat must be 30 years old at least. Hard to tell how long it's been in the forest.
Found reports on 4WD and trail bike forums about it going back to at least 2000.
The other two vehicles have obviously been there for thirty years or longer.
We think that the area was orginally a private propertry and whoever vacated the land just left the boat and the cars where they stood.
Seems to be the most likely explanation. Maybe they passed away and no one took over the property.
It's great having a mystery to puzzle over though.
