Default A real S&S movie: Season of the Witch

Linda and I just finished watching Nick Cage and Ron Perlman in Season of the Witch.
Now that's what I call a real sword and sorcery movie.
Good story, great suspense, quality acting and set and costumes.

I think it may be well be the best S&S movie I've seen to date.

Season of the Witch was a lot of good dopey fun - British actors with American accents in Dark Age Europe, Perlman and Cage as crusaders, Christopher Lee doing a Max Von Sydow turn. Glorious stuff.

Nicholas Cage has always been one of my favourite actors, even though he insists upon making some very bad movies, and when he's given free rein (as here and as in the last twenty minutes or so of the otherwise execrable Wicker Man remake) there's no one quite like him.

The Sean Bean movie Black Death has a similar feel to it.

I liked it more than I expected to. And I would agree with Jaq it has to be one of the best S&S movies.

Just watched it this weekend and wanted to chime in my agreement that it is an excellent sword & sorcery movie. Hollywood should make more of this sort.

Guess I'll rent it this weekend then. Been eyeing it for a while.
