Thread: Creative Crossroads

    Default Creative Crossroads

I'm at a creative crossroads. What would everyone rather read:

    1) A Sci-Fi story with demons, vampires and a reborn Spanish Inquisition.

    2) A quasi-historic fantasy with half-vampire pirates

    3) A "Lost World" sci-fi/fantasy where people from across time end up in an alternative dimension with dinosaurs and megafauna.

    4) A Western with a vampire/wendigo/other nasty thing bounty hunter

    5) An epic fantasy with a violent and nasty-tempered female hero, set in a quasi Roman/Celtic world

    6) A steampunk book with take-off's of Tolkien's races

    7) A Sci-fi take off of Tolkien's races.

They all sound like workable seed ideas to me, although there is a glut of vampire fiction on the market these days (I belive the prefered publishing term is Paranormal Romance, but a rose by any other name and all that.) Steampunk as a sub-genre/sub-culture has been gathering momentum for a while now.

Personally, I like the western idea, but then I'm a sucker for six-guns, dusters and things of that nature.

I agree that they all have potential.

My vote was for the western idea, because, like che, I like westerns and hope the genre will be revived. OTOH, I'd leave out the vampire part.

Even better, why not write them all!

And if I had a a better idea, I'd use it myself.

    Thank you all!

I better dust off some of my old Louis Lamour's and a well-thumbed copy of Lonesome Dove, and do a bit of background work.

    Cheers!
