Hi .. I'm a newbie to this list; thanks for hosting me. I have a very narrow & specific SF interest: novels that centre on the future North American superhighways and the lives of those that populate them. I know of two: "Code Three" - Rick Raphael, 1963 and "On Wheels" - John Jakes, 1973. The first describes a million-mile North American Continental Thruway System and centres on a massive NorCon patrol vehicle (a combination police car, ambulance, wrecker, etc.) and it's three-person crew. The second describes a future culture of "road clans" that are restricted by tradition (and now federal law) to staying in continual motion on elevated superhighways which pass over the overpopulated and heavily polluted U.S.

I'd be very interested if anyone knows of other stories or books with similar themes .. thanks very much. Perry
