Default New Science Fiction/ Fantasy magazine - Sorcery and the Far Frontier

I am working on a new magazine which I plan to publish 3 times per year called Sorcery and the Far Frontier. I am looking for a variety of speculative fiction. I like old pulp stories as well as more modern fiction. This will be a semi-pro magazine by Duotrope's standard, paying $.01 USD up to some length.

I am targetting an initial publication date of some time in April 2012. There will be a print edition as well as one or more online editions (I am still thinking about how to do that).

I have a blog at http://sorceryandthefarfrontier.blogspot.com/ which has a post describing the submission guidelines and instructions for submitting stories. I have the domain and am working on the website, which will have further details on payment and so on.

Looking good, jm. If you haven't already, think about sending your market details into places like duotrope and ralan's. Most of my submitters get to me from those two places.

I have received many submissions and am reading through them. As a result of reading the submissions and responding to a couple of repeated queries, I have updated the submissions guidelines which you can read here:
    http://sorceryandthefarfrontier.com/submissions.html

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your submissions!

The URL doesn't appear to be working. Is this publication still a go?

    Sounds cool

I've been collecting several stories that I have yet to send out. I'll give you one on them.

Saw the blog, but the last entry was November. I sent a story but never received an acknowledgement. It would be nice to get an update.

    Bruce,

There is no autoresponse to let you know a submission has been received. A sent an email query when I hadn't heard anything and he responded saying he received the story. Maybe you should do the same. I guess this is still a viable market, although the lack of activity on the website and the disappearance of the submission guidelines isnt' a good sign. However, this is a brand new zine and it isn't easy getting one started. I'll remain optimistic until otherwise notified. Good luck with your sub.

10-4. Will do. (Just discovered a message has to be at least 10 letters. Good idea for those who respond only with a smiley)

Can't entirely agree. On the Conan forum a well-placed emoticon can be the difference between a bit of humour and an all out flame war.

I just sent off a query to see if the pub is still alive.

Yes, an emoticon can smile and smile and be a villain! I've seen it many times.
