    Smile Hi there. *wave*

    Hi.

I've been writing for a long time, but I very rarely submit anything. That could be because I very seldom finish anything, or it could be that I'm really a terrible writer who never shows my work to anyone. I like to meticulously plot out what is going to happen, in fact plotting and planning is my form of cat vacuuming, and so I write quite slowly - although once I'm plotted there's no stopping me.

I have three main novels that I have been chopping and changing between for several years, (2 x SF, 1 x YA/Fantasy) and it recently occurred to me that the two SF ones are in the same universe.

In my real world I'm from a small country town where no one writes, or understands the writing bug. I'm just the weird little sister/quiet cousin/artsy friend, so it's been easier to keep it to myself. I want to play in the world of writers and writing. I want to talk with people who have that need to write and I guess that's what has brought me here today.

    Hi Dusk

Welcome to SFReader The place isn't as busy as it used to be, but i think it's on the improve again. As long as you enjoy writing, you're a writer, imo. And because you enjoy writing you'll most likely always be looking for ways to improve your skills. Writing's an addiction, but a good one

Welcome aboard, there are a few writers lurking in the woodwork round these parts, you've just got to coax them out. Friendly types for the most part and always willing to discuss the craft and to pass on helpful words of wisdom

    Welcome, DK!

Your description of your town reminded me of a Bill Hicks bit, about sitting in a cafe somewhere down south reading a book: "Some redneck walks up to me and says, 'Whatcha readin' for?' Not "Whatcha readin'?' 'Whatcha readin' FOR.'"

    G'day Dusk

Small country town in Western Oz...Perth?

I know what you mean about being the 'weird' one, the one who writes stuff...'cause not a single one of my mates really gets it.
If I do a Matthew Rielly type novel a few of them might be interested.
My wife and I live on the edge of southern Sydney.

    Anyway...welcome to SF reader, mate.

Things are a bit slow here at the moment but like the tide we ebb and surge.
Nice to chat with a fellow Aussie writer.

    Cheers: Jaq.
