Thread: Reintroducing myself

  1. #1

    Default Reintroducing myself

Hey everbody! I've been absent from the forum for months, so I figured--taking the sticky-post advice crystalwizard posted back in 2010--it might be worthwhile to "reintroduce" myself here.

I've been hunkered down for the past few months, but emerged with my first novel. It clocks in at about 95,000 words, and I'm just wrapping up the first revision.

I say it's my first novel because Knight Terrors: The (Mis)Adventures of Smoke the Dragon, published by Ancient Tomes Press in 2010, is pretty short, technically a novella (beefed up with over 40 fantastic pen-and-ink illustrations by Richard Svensson).

Anyway, I'm excited about forthcoming upgrades to the site alluded to by Dave in other forums, and I'd love to see this become a vibrant community once again.

Thanks, Dave and John! I turn the big 4-0 this year, so I'm glad to have written a novel before I hit that milestone. Over the course of my life I've begun at least a dozen books, but never got beyond nine or ten chapters (maybe it's something to do with my attention span that my published output consists mainly of short stories--and many of those "flash" fiction!). So it's been rewarding and gratifying to slog through to the end on this one--and it came rather easily, wasn't much of a slog really. I guess a 100,000-word novel in three months ain't too shabby at all. Man, if I could do this full-time, I'd love to produce two or three of these a year.

That's awesome news, Nick! Having just completed my first novel myself (two weeks before my deadline) I understand what a thrill it is! Let me know when your is available. Maybe we can arrange a swap!

Congrats, Nick! Novels definitely take commitment. I have a bunch of novel beginnings laying around myself. I'm working on a follow up to "Azieran: Against the Drimlith" now, but have taken a hiatus to work on a Brom tale.

Congrats on finishing a novel length work! I've strated four myself, but never managed to break the tape.
